What inspires your everyday work?
Overall, I love creating spaces where guests walk into and think, 鈥渘ow this is somewhere I want to spend my time.鈥� To leave a mark, a memorable experience, in someone鈥檚 life is what motivates me.
Most memorable project?
Cascade Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio by Marriott in Kansas City, Missouri was very memorable. Our project began at the start of the mandatory COVID-19 quarantine. The team quickly adapted to the new circumstances and found a way to work together remotely. All in all, the team successfully brought the concept to life, maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout each decision. It was a sight I will never forget, as my kitchen island became a mosaic of materials that soon filled the Cascade Hotel.

Which current projects make you excited to come to work every day?
We are currently working on a local upscale hotel renovation that has been an icon for many years in the heart of the聽Minneapolis聽entertainment district. For this project, we’re working with an incredibly talented team to聽help re-envision the food and beverage spaces that many of the local designers grew up spending time in. Our goal is to infuse fresh and modern design details into an already elevated luxury space, while showcasing local Minneapolis artistic talent
What鈥檚 the next big trend that will change the design industry?
The emphasis on wellness is a strong driver within the industry right now. Wellness, whether it鈥檚 natural materials, interior plantings, or patterns inspired by nature, continues to be incorporated into many projects to promote overall well-being. There is also a lot of focus on not only the look and feel of spaces, but also the experiences they can offer as well. Some of the buzz in the hospitality industry is incorporating meditation or stretching rooms and integrating in-room spa showers. Even advances in AI technology are utilized to create hyper-personalized experiences, enhancing a guest’s overall travel experience.
